What are Fat Dissolving Injections?

Fat Dissolving Injections work by liquidating fat cells and destroying them permanently. The broken-down cells are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.

Fat Dissolving Injections are an excellent treatment for those looking to treat areas on the body with stubborn, localised fat.

In order to achieve the best result, our experienced doctors will assess and offer a bespoke treatment plan.

For Under the chin (submenta / double chin) fat, we use Celluform+ and you will require 2 sessions, 6 weeks apart, with results beeing visible after the first session.

For Body fat, depending the area and depending the fat amount, we use either Celluform or Aqualyx. You will need 4-6 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart.

Areas treated: double chin, back fat, arm fat, stomach fat, love handles, inner and outter thights etc

How do Fat Dissolving Injections work?

Fat dissolving injections, such as those containing deoxycholic acid, work by disrupting the cell membranes of targeted fat cells, leading to the release of fat content. Administered through injections with a fine needle, the treatment prompts adipocytolysis, breaking down stored fat into smaller particles. Following this, the body’s natural processes metabolize and gradually eliminate the liberated fat through the lymphatic system. The reduction in fat volume occurs progressively over weeks to months, contributing to a natural-looking outcome.

Fat dissolving injections are designed for localized fat reduction in areas like the chin, abdomen, thighs, or flanks, emphasizing the importance of individualized treatment plans and professional consultation to assess suitability and discuss potential outcomes and risks.

How is the treatment administered?

The administration of fat dissolving injections involves a skilled practitioner using either a fine needle or a cannula, depending on the specific product used and the targeted treatment area. A fine needle is commonly employed for precision in areas where detailed contouring is required, such as the chin or smaller localized pockets of fat.

On the other hand, a cannula, a thin, flexible tube, may be chosen for broader areas like the abdomen or thighs, offering a more even distribution of the fat-dissolving solution and potentially reducing the risk of bruising. This choice is influenced by the practitioner’s technique, the patient’s anatomy, and the desired outcome.

Side effects

Common side effects include temporary swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection sites. Patients may also experience mild discomfort during and after the procedure. These effects are usually transient and subside within a few days to weeks.

Less common side effects may include uneven skin texture, nodules or lumps at the injection sites, or skin irregularities.

As with any cosmetic procedure, individual responses can vary, and the likelihood of side effects may be influenced by factors such as the patient’s health, adherence to post-treatment care, and the practitioner’s skill.

Frequently
Asked Questions

As long as you are generally healthy and don't have any skin diseases or infections in the treated area there are few medical reasons why you should not undergo fat dissolving injections treatment.

Fat Dissolving Injections are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for people who have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy or are immunocompromised for any reason, including type 1 diabetes.

The results of Fat Dissolving Injections treatment are permanent as long as you maintain a constant weight measurement i.e. you eat healthily, exercise regularly, and do not gain weight.

Because Fat Dissolving Injections are non-surgical treatment (no incisions or stitches required), there are no general anaesthetic risks and scarring is very unlikely.

People treated will typically experience minimal side effects when compared to more invasive procedures, such as liposuction. There is likely to be swelling, bruising and tenderness which lasts 7 days after treatment.

The manufacturers report that, to date, no major side effects of Aqualyx® or Celluform use have been reported to them.

Do not apply any cosmetics to the treated area within a 12-hour period.

Avoid all direct sources of heat and radiation e.g. sunlight, UV radiation, saunas.

You should also abstain from particularly demanding physical exercise for 7 days.

As the released fatty acids are converted into additional energy, it is especially important that you keep a healthy diet, otherwise your body will simply store the fat in an alternative fat depot.

The ideal candidate for Fat Dissolving Injections treatment already lives a healthy lifestyle, exercising regularly and eating a well-balanced diet, but has one troublesome pocket of fat that simply won't disappear. The cause for this lies within our genetics - the double chin is a good example of fat that is often present even on very slim individuals. Other particularly stubborn pockets of fat that can be harder to resolve with exercise alone include love handles, stomach fat, bingo wings (fat under the arms), knee fat pads (fat knees), and back fat (bra fat).

All of these areas can be treated with Aqualyx or Celluform.
